Using T-Mobile mobile hardware and especially software has always been a nightmare for me and sometimes also an odyssey for others :(
This time I decided to find a more clean approach - a T-Mobile-free way.
Matthias Fischer has an excellent blog entry (in German) on how to operate the Huawei E870 on Windows 7 - but it did not quite do the full trick for me, most likely because I run the x64 version....?
Anyway, I really need this mobile 3G card badly as I am traveling quite a bit. So I needed it to run on Windows 7 x64 (BTW: I am running Windows 7 x64 on a new 160GB Intel SSD in my Lenovo T61p... yummie!!! :)).
OK, so here are the steps involved how I got it running (I surely hope it also works for others):
- Download the 'Mobile Partner' tool (including base drivers) from Huwaei. The file you need is 'E870-UTPSB002D03SP16C03_(Normal).zip' which can be found here.
- Unzip the file, you will find 2 files in there.
- An ISO, called MOBILE_CONNECT.ISO: this is the 'Mobile Connect' tool and some base drivers.
- An EXE, called UTPS11.002.03.16.03.B310.exe: this is supposed to be a software update for the card (and some drivers?) - but it did not work for me, nevertheless.
- Mount the ISO (I did it with Virtual CloneDrive).
- Run the installer from the mounted ISO.
- After the installation is done, wait a bit. Windows will contact Windows Update and search for the 3G modem drivers - and it finds it (well, again: it did so for me ;))
- The modem should show up in Device Manager as 'HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem'.
- Now you are ready to use it by starting the 'Mobile Connect' tool (which looks more stable to me than T-Mobile's web'n'walk Manager, BTW).
- If you live in Germany you may want to import the proper German mobile provider profiles which Matthias links to.
Now I can finally use my T-Mobile 3G plan on Windows 7 x64!
Yummie.
Cool thing of the day: I've googled for 't-mobile web walk expresscard IV windows 7' and got back to TT's site ;-) Thanks for posting this ... trying it right now. -Ingo

I searched for help because I experience frequent halt of Windows 7 X64 everytime I got online with E870 for several minutes. I do not have this problem in Windows Vista x32 so I guess its the problem with X64 OS
I downloaded the ISO and mounted it however, the content was exactly the same as the E870 internal memory.
The UTP file shows the same firmware version as the card and I run it anyway. But it seems to stuck in the Checking Device status.
Do you have any idea?

Hm... strange, indeed. I am running Windows 7 x64 for a long time now and use the card almost every day. Sorry I can't be of any help here :(

Hi,
I was looking for a solution to identical installation problems with quite similar setup and the info posted here worked for me perfectly. Thanks.
My config is:
Vaio vgn-fw31m, Windows 7 64 bit, Huawei E870, Service provider: Polish Orange, Connection manager package: Orange Free V8.0.7.
Sorry for taking space with this details but I believe it will make it easier for other folks to solve their system/setup/driver based problems with mobile net.
Thanks again!

You might want to download the official drivers from Option. They have windows 7 drivers as well.

One admits that modern life is not cheap, nevertheless people require money for various things and not every person gets big sums money. Hence to receive some credit loans or sba loan should be a correct way out.

I need help. I just started a new job as EA to an executive. I will manage his TripIt account under his name. I'm trying to add accounts and continue to get exclamation marks after waiting for a long period on "we are updating your account activity" I assume the account number asked is the Mileage / Program Number and the PIN number is a PW? I cannot update old accounts or add new accounts. I'm I correct to say, if the carrier is not a partner with TripIt, I need to manually add the account and information in? I'm confused, help please!!! Thank you!!!
